Record and preserve cultural heritage

The NYCU Library’s History Division systematically collects, organizes, and digitizes artifacts and documents related to the University’s history. The two campuses’ historical development and achievements, particularly in Taiwan’s semiconductors and medicine, are highlighted through active preservation and exhibitions. The library also houses the historical artifacts of the Seden Society Puppetry Theater, introducing new technologies to traditional puppetry culture and exploring new possibilities for this art form. Additionally, it offers a retrospective on the history of puppetry in Taiwan. The library also maintains a collection for the Hsinchu Living Museum, aimed at preserving and revitalizing the WWII-era Imperial Japanese Navy’s Sixth Fuel Factory Hsinchu Branch. This industrial relic conserves the legacies of war, technology-protected Asian particolored bats, and Taiwan’s military dependents’ housing culture.
