Collaboration for SDG best practice

■Comparative Research on Global SDG Strategies:
The university conducts comparative research that examines different approaches to tackling SDG challenges across various countries and regions. By analyzing these diverse strategies, we identify what works, what doesn’t, and why, providing valuable insights that inform the development of international best practices. For example, our research on sustainable agricultural and food compares policies and implementation strategies from different North Asia-Pacific countries, identifying key factors that contribute to successful adoption. This research has been shared with international bodies and informs global guidelines on SDG 2 (Zero Hunger).
■Workshops and Knowledge Sharing Platforms:
The university organises and participates in international workshops, webinars, and conferences that focus on sharing and refining best practices for SDG implementation. These platforms bring together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss comparative approaches and learn from one another’s experiences. For example, 2023 Asian Law Schools Association (ALSA) Conference brought together experts from different continents to compare legal implications of emerging technologies for climate change and sustainable development, the regulatory measures needed to promote responsible use, and develop a shared understanding of what constitutes best practice for SDG 16 (Peace, justice and strong institutions). Moreover, we hosted the Association of Cultural Studies (ACS) “2023 Summer School”, attracting up to 100 participants from 17 countries. Experts, scholars, and young students from around the world gathered to discuss various global social inequalities exacerbated by the impact of COVID-19 and focus on best practice for SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). Topics included population migration, transnational migrant workers, and environmental crises.
