Divestment policy

Carbon-intensive industries currently make up only 4.08% of NYCU’s investments. In 2023, the University Affairs Meeting resolved to further reduce investments in carbon-intensive sectors and increase investments in industries aligned with ESG principles. The Meeting simultaneously issued an investment principles report, publicly declaring that university funds would prioritise companies committed to ESG values and corporate social responsibility. As a result, 49 corporations were selected for investment. Additionally, the NYCU Centre for Industry-Academia Collaboration has provided substantial support to 49 related start-up businesses, none of which are involved in carbon-intensive industries, with seven operating in the renewable energy sector. The university has required these businesses to sign corporate ESG statements and has held meetings with non-ESG-certified companies to encourage them to pursue certification.
