100% renewable energy pledge

NYCU is dedicated to advancing renewable energy and sustainability. On 15 August 2023, NYCU signed the “University Sustainability Initiative” with the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability, good governance, and social responsibility. The university has set an ambitious target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Through various lectures and events, including a seminar on carbon neutrality led by Tianlai Innovation CEO Chen Lai-Chu, NYCU actively promotes zero-carbon transformation. NYCU has also launched initiatives like the Zero-Carbon Transition Executive Training Programme to equip leaders for a sustainable future. Moreover, the university collaborates with Kyushu University and the Industrial Technology Research Institute to advance clean energy technologies. These efforts highlight NYCU’s dedication to renewable energy, through a holistic approach encompassing education, research, and industry partnerships.
