Promote sustainable commuting

NYCU actively promotes sustainable commuting through multiple measures: prioritizing electric scooters when replacing official motorcycles; expanding cycling by providing 46 bicycle parking areas with 1,655 racks across campuses; and deploying shared mobility—six on-campus YouBike stations with about 197 bicycles, iRent car-sharing (with staff/student discount terms), and the shared e-scooter program (“oloo”) that now operates 18 stations with peak monthly usage around 20,000 rides and ~232,000 rides over the last year. We have installed and planned EV/motorbike charging and battery-swap infrastructure on all campuses (including swap/charging points at specific sheds), and we run inter-campus buses linking Guangfu, Bo’ai, and other sites to the Taiwan Rail/HSR network. Moreover, we have replaced diesel shuttles with electric buses, which is projected to cut ~89,900 liters of fuel and ~240 tons of CO₂ per year, and added an electric “pilot bus” service connecting Hsinchu Station, Guangfu Campus, and HSR Hsinchu to further shift commuters from private vehicles to public transport.
