Pedestrian priority on campus
The University prioritizes pedestrian access and makes walking the default mode on campus. In 2020, the University completed a 100-meter, 1.8-meter-wide tree-lined avenue that separates pedestrians from vehicles. On the Chiaotung Campus, upgrades covered a 250-meter core section of Jinzhu Avenue and adjacent open spaces near the Library, as well as a ~50-meter walkway in the dormitory area with updated notice boards—totaling 2,400 m² of public realm renewal. On the Yangming Campus, the pedestrian network is complete; the University conducts regular inspections and implements improvements as needed. Dedicated pedestrian zones are clearly marked, and motor vehicles are prohibited within these areas.
