Mental health support for staff
1. NYCU is deeply committed to the mental health of its faculty and staff, offering a range of wellness activities with priority registration for employees. A prime example is the “”Singing Bowl Sound Therapy: A Sound Wave Soul SPA”” workshop. Designed to counteract the stress of a fast-paced modern life, this workshop is led by a clinical psychologist and utilizes the low-frequency vibrations of singing bowls to guide participants on a journey of deep relaxation. It offers a unique opportunity for our faculty and staff to release daily tension, reconnect with their inner harmony, and recharge their mental and spiritual energy.
2. Each academic year, the Health and Counseling Center at NYCU offers a diverse range of mental health promotion activities, providing abundant psychological support resources for both students and faculty. These activities include university-wide lectures (such as mindfulness and emotional regulation), department-specific guidance, workshops (like psychodrama and self-exploration), film screenings, and interactive exhibitions.
3. Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs)
NYCU offers Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) to foster a supportive work environment and promote the well-being of our faculty and staff. These confidential programs are designed to help employees address personal and work-related challenges that may affect their performance and health. Services include professional counseling for stress management, emotional well-being, workplace communication, and family or marital issues.
4. Subsidies for External Counseling Services
To further support mental health, our university subsidizes external, self-paid counseling services for faculty and staff. Each employee is eligible for up to two subsidized sessions per year, with a subsidy of up to NT$2,000 per session. Recognizing the unique demands of their roles, full-time personnel at the Health and Counseling Center are eligible for up to four subsidized sessions annually.
These initiatives form a robust, campus-wide mental health network committed to supporting our employees.
