Linking with Global Partners, Promoting International Mobility of Faculty and Students

2021-06-21

To reinforce collaboration with top academic and research institutions worldwide and share resources with global partners, National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) has endeavored to join various renowned international academic organizations and has signed memorandums of understanding with top universities worldwide. By the end of 2019, the university had 304 sister schools and 594 collaboration contracts that were in effect. These sister schools are located throughout the globe, promoting the international mobility of faculty and students.

In 2018, NCTU joined the Association of East Asian Research Universities (AEARU), enabling it to engage in in-depth collaboration and exchanges with leading universities in Japan, South Korea, China, and Hong Kong. In 2019, the association, NCTU, and National Taiwan University jointly hosted the AEARU Innovation and Startup Winter Camp, attracting nearly 50 students from 20 top universities in eight countries, including the National University of Singapore, University of Tokyo, Osaka University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tohoku University, Seoul National University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Penn State University, and Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

Various departments of NCTU continually seek new collaboration partners and are engaged in collaboration with partners worldwide; for example, the collaboration between the International College of Semiconductor Technology and the Indian Institutes of Technology and that between the College of Science, Saitama University in Japan, and Vietnam National University Hanoi University of Science. The international collaboration resulting from frequent visits and exchanges between faculty and students of different partners has helped NCTU attain various outstanding research outcomes. The university and several major partners have also set up offices on each other’s campus, including Tohoku University and Chalmers University of Technology.
