Safe Drinking Water, Sustainable Information

2023-03-06

Safe and affordable drinking water is provided on campus, and sustainable supply and recycling of water resources are ensured through the diverse use of water resources and improvement to water efficiency, while also reducing water pollution.

  • In recent years, the Yangming Campus constructed a rainwater collection and storage system. The water collected had been used for flushing toilets in various dormitories and buildings Additionally, it provides watering for plants, utilizing a variety of water resources and maximizing water efficiency. Drinking water dispensers are widely installed on the campus to make it easier for getting drinking water. The general public is also encouraged to bring their own containers to reduce the consumption of single-use plastics. All water dispensers are regularly cleaned and maintained by the manufacturer every month. In addition, the school’s drinking water towers and reservoirs are cleaned regularly every year. To guarantee that the water on campus is safe and clean, water quality inspection reports, equipment record reports, and construction photos are submitted.

  • The dormitory no. 3 for graduate students in the Chiaotung Campus has referred to the Ministry of the Interior’s “Technical Regulations for Design in Construction of the Wastewater Treatment Facilities” to greatly increase the efficiency of dormitries’ water usage and conservation efforts through the full utilization of water resource management and more widespread use of water conservation equipment. The dormitories’ wastewater is processed and recycled for toilet flushing. Empty raft foundation boxes are used as rainwater recovery reservoirs; once the water has been treated, it is then used to water plants and landscapes on a daily basis for greening and beautification.
