On February 1, 2021, two major universities in Taiwan, National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) and National Yang-Ming University (NYMU) officially merged into one, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU). The merged institution is promised to be the most prominent public university engaging in both engineering and healthcare disciplines in Taiwan. The 2030 Six Core Strategic Industries adopted by Taiwan’s government stresses innovations, inclusive, and sustainability and targets six areas for future development: (1) information and digital technology, (2) cybersecurity, (3) medical technology and precision health, (4) green and renewable energy, (5) national defense and strategic industries, and (6) strategic stockpile industries. At NYCU we recognize and embrace our responsibility in advancing the transformation of Taiwan’s industry. In the post-epidemic era, NYCU will not only respond to the needs of the country but also cultivate a healthier, better and more environmentally friendly society and integrate international partners to jointly promote sustainable development.
