Advocating women’s creative rights, Yangming Book Lending Work Station “Calendar Book Store: Taiwanese Female Writers Book Fair”

2023-03-28

The NYCU Libraries began working with the Taipei Public Library in 2019 to establish the “Yangming Book Lending Work Station” at the Yangming Campus for the convenience of students, faculty members, and neighboring communities. By doing so, it serves the community around campus, forming a scholarly university town “without borders”. In 2021, the workstation organized the “Calendar Book Store: Taiwanese Female Writers Book Fair,” which showcased 341 excellent books by Taiwanese female writers; good quotes and introductions from one book are shared each day on the library fan page. The event was meant to not only introduce readers to more high-quality works, but also promote the achievements of Taiwanese female writers in their creative endeavors, advocating respect for women’s creative rights and voice, and effectively implementing gender equality policies. Through good creative environments and social acceptance, the excellent works of female writers will have more opportunities to shine, and through keen observation and graceful control of language, these authors play the heartstrings of readers everywhere.
