本校作為一個頂尖大學指標學校，新建建築規劃設計施作皆依照財團法人台灣建築中心所訂定之規定辦理。不論是新建教學大樓、宿舍及停車場等，皆依使用需求配合各項指標法規進行設計施作並取得認證標章，已達最佳化之空間品質。
以教學空間人社三館為例；人社三館以既成道路為入口面，整合面對活動中心及第一餐廳的介面，釋放周圍公共空間。以建築為框的角落位置設置戶外劇場，呼應人社院多元的教學方式以及表演形成公共性的戶外廣場。地面層配置多功能階梯教室，以大跨距量體延續廣場的公共性並創造流暢之人行動線，日後舉行研討會或演講時，將能有效紓解人流，提供良好的空間品質。
另有宿舍空間，研究生第三宿舍，除提供學生住宿的需求外，更希望從生活服務的提升，學習交流的促進，讓學生及國人對於本校擁有更為人性化、生活化、國際化的正面觀感，並符合環保概念的住宿環境。研究生第三宿舍位置承接北面的教學活動，銜接西面宿舍群學生的日常起居生活，在校園環境中具有舉足輕重的地位，未來研三舍不只提供學生大量優質的住宿空間，更扮演著南區宿舍群中「客廳」的重要角色。
Green Campus Buildings
National Chiao Tung University (hereafter NCTU) is a top university in Taiwan, and its new construction planning and designs must comply with the specifications of the Taiwan Architecture & Building Center. According to usage demand, all newly built teaching buildings, dormitories, and parking lots must abide by various indices and regulations in designs and obtain certification, thereby optimizing spatial quality.
For example, the Humanities & Social Sciences Building (HC) III features an entrance facing an existing road, and the public open space surrounding the building is characterized by the building interfaces facing the activity center and the first cafeteria. An outdoor theater is featured at one building corner, providing a public outdoor space for the diverse teaching methods and performances in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. A multipurpose lecture hall is established on the ground floor to expand the publicity of the square by a large span and to facilitate a smooth pedestrian flow. Thus, the flow of people is effectively relieved after seminars and lectures, encouraging satisfactory spatial quality.
In regard to dormitory spaces, Graduate Dorm 3, in addition to fulfilling student accommodation needs, is expected to facilitate a humanized, vivid, and internationalized positive image for students and Taiwanese citizens toward NCTU through the improvement of daily living services and the promotion of learning exchange. The dorm is also expected to provide an environmentally friendly dormitory space. The dorm, which connects the teaching activities in the northern area to the daily living activities of students in the dormitory area to the west, plays a crucial role in the campus environment. In future, Graduate Dorm 3 is expected to not only provide students with a considerable amount of exceptional living space but also play a major role as a reception zone for the southern dormitory area.
