To provide students and teachers with safe, diverse, convenient commutation, NYCU introduces several energy-saving transportation, creating a sustainable environment.

  • Yang Ming Campus provides students, teachers, and hiking people with safe and sustainable transportation, including:
  1. Eighty-six percent of the Yang Ming campus consists of hills and mountains, and NYCU provides shuttle services for faculties and students. In 2016,  the Ministry of Transportation and Communication allowed public buses to enter the campus. The 559 bus service has seen an increase in student and faculty ridership.
  2. In August 2021, NYCU opened up the YouBike station north of the library,  and the total riding counts exceed 2,000 times.
  3. In 2019, NYCU started using the iRent sharing vehicle which was well-reputed.
  • Chiao Tung campus offers a variety of convenient and energy-saving transportation:
  1. Intercampus shuttles and city buses on campus

Faculty and students can use free shuttle services to travel between campuses. As of February 2021, shuttle services between the Yang Ming and Chiao Tung campuses ferry up to 600 passengers each week. Furthermore, through Ministry of Transportation and Communication’s initiative to encourage city buses’ entry into university campuses, bus stops for Hsinchu Bus Route 2 were set up on campus. Furthermore, the Ministry of Transportation and Communication has agreed to allow How Tai Bus to set up a bus stop for establishing services that link the campus to Taipei Main Station. How Tai provides bus services to more than 60 passengers on weekdays and serves up to 200 passengers on Fridays and Sundays.

  1. Electric moped- and scooter-sharing system

In 2020, the Guangfu Campus introduced a electric mopeds and scooters sharing system. Specifically, shared electric mopeds were provided at parking lot D, and shared electric scooters were provided at five popular locations on campus.

  1. Installation of YouBike stations

YouBike stations have been gradually added to the Guangfu Campus since 2017. The currently available YouBike stations are: the Daxue Rd., Zhufeng Square, Graduate Student Dormitory 3, and XinAn Rd. stations. The monthly number of rentals is estimated to exceed 10,000, indicating the high popularity of the service among students and faculty.
