Tyng-Ruey Chuang (莊庭瑞)

【Background】
Chuang was a guest researcher at the Department of Computing Science, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, before joining the Institute as an assistant research fellow in January 1994. He graduated with a BS degree in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1984. He received his MS and PhD degrees in Computer Science from New York University in 1990 and 1993, respectively.
【Outline】
In this talk, Chuang will discuss how the vast collection of artefacts created by thousands of activists was collected and made available to the public during the 2014 Sunflower Movement. He will also showcase a “zero-budget” platform for collecting COVID-19 images and stories in Taiwan, as well as the many global efforts to preserve social shared memory during the pandemic for the future.
