We cordially invite you to attend the Opening Ceremony of Taste Resilience – Food Art Exhibition on Friday, 9/20, at 12:10 PM at Zhi Xing Art Space on the Yang Ming Campus. Artist Joanna Wong will be present, and we warmly encourage you to join us. The opening event will feature food and beverages, with the artist preparing food on-site for all faculty and students to enjoy. The forum on Food Justice will follow the ceremony at 1:20 PM, and we welcome your participation. To help us plan for the catering, please fill out this registration form. Thank you.

Joanna Wong is an artist born in Hong Kong and now based in Paris, currently pursuing a PhD in Visual Arts and Philosophy at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Her creative inspiration stems from gardening and cooking, viewing these everyday activities as metaphors for culture, reflecting on the layered meanings that emerge from the interactions between nature and culture. She is one of the founding members of Enoki Collective, a group that collaborates with artists, chefs, farmers, and scientists to explore food systems from farm to table and invites people to re-examine the relationship between food and life from a new perspective.

This exhibition is based on the concept of “Relational Aesthetics”(esthétique relationnelle), a term introduced by French art critic Nicolas Bourriaud, which emphasizes the importance of social interactions and experiences, inviting the audience to become active participants. Rather than focusing on the creation of art objects, the works explore human relationships and social contexts, with interaction and experience at their core. This exhibition focuses on three main themes:

  1. Food and Migration
  2. Food as Nourishment
  3. Food as Social Resistance
    It aims to showcase how food becomes a manifestation of care, fostering interpersonal connections and promoting cultural continuity and social inclusion.
