Promoting the Internationalization of Ph.D. Talent Development in Education through Systematic Training and International Certification.

2023-11-09

NYCU’s Higher Education Accreditation for Teaching (HEAT) has established a long-term partnership with Advance HE in the United Kingdom. Through the international professional teaching training and certification system, we commit to strengthening the educated expertise of university professors and Ph.D. professionals. We provide systematic teaching training, practical experience, certification guidance, and support to help professors and Ph.D. professionals to meet international higher education standards. We also encourage the development of a community of teachers to share teaching practices and promote interdisciplinary teaching collaborations. As of 2023, 202 professors, Ph.D. students, and postdoctoral fellows from our university and the National Taiwan University, the National Cheng Kung University, and the National Tsing Hua University have completed the training, with 148 of them successfully obtained HEA Fellowship teaching certification at various levels.

In the future, our university will provide long-term, systematic teaching training and certification guidance to at least 30 teachers, Ph.D. students, and postdoctoral fellows each year. We will also strengthen our collaboration with Advance HE and its global members’ universities, as well as European education associations such as the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE). This collaboration will involve the development of professional educational training courses, effective educational frameworks and strategies that meet the needs of Taiwanese higher education, alignment with national higher education policies and connection to global higher education trends. Our goal is to provide effective teaching demonstrations and increase the influence of higher education teaching.
