Mr. Yu-Ting Liu, a graduate student from College of Artificial Intelligence, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), was financially sponsored by the EU Erasmus+ Global Mobility program and studied inUniversity of Agder (UiA) for one semester. Even though there were many restrictions due to COVID-19, Yu-Ting was able to enjoy a lot of lectures given in a hybrid mode, which means that professors still give lectures in a classroom but the lectures are also streamed real-time through Zoom. Therefore, it is up to each student to decide to attend the classes physically or virtually.
The joint researches between UiA and NYCU continued to flourish. During his stay, Mr. Yu-Ting Liu involved in a research project, StaySafe, which is funded by the Research Council of Norway with NYCU as an internal partner. The project aims at finding a viable solution for mental health patients through a combination of IoT and machine learning technologies. Meanwhile, two outstanding wireless system research papers have been published [1][2]. In the work [1], two novel hashing-based schemes in order to achieve collision-free data transmissions for receiver-initiated data collection in a wireless sensor network are proposed.
In the work [2], a novel deep learning model which concatenates an autoencoder with a long-short-term memory (LSTM) network for WiFi fingerprint positioning is proposed.
