Under the principle of quality over quantity, National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) continues to recruit outstanding foreign students. To reinforce the connection between foreign students and domestic industry and improve the employability of foreign students, the university has collaborated with domestic enterprises to offer internship and employment opportunities for such students. The goal is to uphold the spirit of sustainability and cultivate international talent needed in industry.
In addition to hosting occasional internship and employment-matching events and job recruitment seminars for foreign students, NCTU arranges an annual open house career fair with the participation of more than 200 enterprises, which announce approximately 30,000 openings. To help overseas compatriot and foreign students seek employment through this occasion, NCTU distributes an employment and internship questionnaire to the participating enterprises and identifies those that are willing to offer openings to overseas compatriot and foreign students. In 2019, 63 enterprises offered formal openings, and 40 enterprises provided internship openings.
In addition, NCTU has established a mechanism that assists with the startup activities of foreign students by providing startup funds and hosting startup team competitions, encouraging foreign students to start their own businesses. Between 2018 and 2019, NCTU successfully incubated four international startup companies.
