NYCU IAPS and Kyushu University OIP Sign MoU to Foster Taiwan-Japan Innovation Exchange

On March 26, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University’s (NYCU) Industry Accelerator and Patent Strategy (IAPS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kyushu University’s Open Innovation Platform Inc. (OIP), marking a new milestone in strengthening Taiwan–Japan innovation ecosystems.

This strategic partnership aims to deepen collaboration between Taiwan and Kyushu in multiple domains—including startups, technology transfer, and academia-industry cooperation. The agreement underscores both parties’ commitment to co-creating globally competitive innovation-driven enterprises.

Advancing Startup Support and Academic-Industry Links

As part of this cooperation, OIP will soon establish a Taipei office within the Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA). At the same time, IAPS will assist OIP-affiliated startups in exploring development opportunities in Taiwan. Conversely, IAPS will lead Taiwanese startups to participate in RAMENTECH, a major startup event in Fukuoka this October, where OIP will be a key connector to local resources and ecosystem players.

This initiative has been made possible with the support of Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council, NYCU, National Chung Cheng University, National Taiwan Ocean University, and other esteemed partners. It represents a joint effort to inject new momentum into Taiwan-Japan co-innovation.

In addition, IAPS is expanding its global footprint through more collaborations with top Japanese universities. Earlier this year, NYCU also agreed to cooperate with Tohoku University. Notably, world-renowned physicist and former Tohoku University President Dr. Hideo Ohno visited NYCU, paving the way for collaboration in spintronics. NYCU is also committed to sharing its robust experience in semiconductor education with Japanese partners.
Stay tuned as NYCU IAPS continues to forge strategic alliances and accelerate the growth of innovation across borders.
