Mental health support for staff

NYCU provides comprehensive mental health support for its staff through a multifaceted approach.
■ NYCU offers a range of wellness activities with priority registration for employees. A prime example is the “Singing Bowl Sound Therapy: A Sound Wave Soul SPA” workshop. Designed to counteract the stress of a fast-paced modern life, this workshop is led by a clinical psychologist and utilizes the low-frequency vibrations of singing bowls to guide participants on a journey of deep relaxation. It offers a unique opportunity for our faculty and staff to release daily tension, reconnect with their inner harmony, and recharge their mental and spiritual energy.
■ Mental Health Promotion Activities
Each academic year, the Health and Counseling Center at NYCU offers a diverse range of mental health promotion activities, providing abundant psychological support resources for both students and faculty. These activities include university-wide lectures (such as mindfulness and emotional regulation), department-specific guidance, workshops (like psychodrama and self-exploration), film screenings, and interactive exhibitions.
■ Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs)
NYCU offers Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) to foster a supportive work environment and promote the well-being of our faculty and staff. These confidential programs are designed to help employees address personal and work-related challenges that may affect their performance and health. Services include professional counseling for stress management, emotional well-being, workplace communication, and family or marital issues.
■ Subsidies for External Counseling Services
To further support mental health, our university provides subsidies for external, self-paid counseling services for faculty and staff. Each employee is eligible for up to two subsidized sessions per year, with a subsidy of up to NT$2,000 per session. Recognizing the unique demands of their roles, full-time personnel at the Health and Counseling Center are eligible for up to four subsidized sessions annually.
