[NYCU SDGs Project] No More Loniness For Learning Disabilities

2022-09-20

To identify children with learning disabilities more efficiently, this project established a learning disability AI detection system, as a way to detect and diagnose learning disabilities.

Professor You-Yin Chen and his research team established the AI typo detection systems in smartphones. They held an online training session to let speech‑language pathologists and teachers use this system, hoping that they can be more familiar with children with learning disabilities and capable of using this AI detection system independently to identify children needing further intervention.

The project aims at changing the condition of scarce learning and medical resources for children with learning disabilities from remote or rural areas, which aligns with the core values of the following SDGs: SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 10: Reduce Inequalities.

The learning disability AI detection system won the excellence award in 110 MediaTek Inc. Genious For Home Digital Social Innovation Competition.
