Employment practice unions

NYCU recognizes the right of all employees—including women and international staff—to organize, join unions and engage in collective bargaining. The university has an active employees’ union and conducts formal labor–management meetings in which union proposals are negotiated (e.g., overtime compensatory leave rules and rounding). NYCU abides by Taiwan’s Labor Union Act, which guarantees all workers the right to organize (Art. 4) and prohibits employer interference or retaliation (Art. 35). NYCU Personnel Office hosts a public “Labor–Management Meeting” page publishing successive meeting records, showing a standing mechanism for dialogue/collective negotiation. Moreover, Hsinchu City Government’s open-data registry lists the “National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Union,” evidencing the union’s public registration in our local jurisdiction.
