Since 2022, NYCU’s Department of Nursing and the Office of Academic Affairs jointly offer the Ministry of Education’s Senior University Program. Priority is given to individuals aged 55 years and above. The program includes courses designed with the unique characteristics of the school and existing faculty resources, including courses on aging, health and leisure courses, school-specific courses, and courses on new life knowledge. A total of 216 hours of courses (108 hours per semester) are conducted.

A total of 42 individuals participated in the Senior University Program in the first year, which was held from September 2022 to June 2023. Most of the participants are residents from the Beitou and the Shilin districts, representing 67% of the total number. The age distribution of the participants is mainly between 60 and 69 years old, with the oldest participant being 81 years old. In this program, professors from various college within the university such as the College of Medicine, the College of Dentistry, the College of Nursing, the College of Biomedical Engineering, the College of Pharmacy, and the College of Life Sciences, were invited to serve as course instructors. The aim of launching the Senior University Program is to effectively utilize the university’s faculty resources in combination with existing facilities and environments to create an ageless learning environment and to establish a diverse senior learning environment.
