Employment practice appeal process

NYCU has a formal grievance/appeals process for employees to raise concerns about employment rights, pay, working conditions, or perceived unfair treatment. Staff submit a written appeal to the Staff Appeals and Review Committee within 30 days of receiving or becoming aware of a decision. The committee reviews evidence (e.g., contracts, evaluations, pay items) and issues a written decision—normally within 30 days, extendable once by 20 days when necessary. Proceedings are non-public, and committee members and attendees must keep deliberations confidential. If the appellant disagrees with the outcome, further statutory remedies (re-appeal, petition, or litigation) are available as specified in the regulations.
