Plan to reduce energy consumption

NYCU established the Energy Conservation Promotion Committee in 2021 with the aim of becoming a sustainable green university. The Committee is tasked with setting energy-saving targets, reviewing departmental strategies, and implementing initiatives to optimise energy efficiency. Key measures include the introduction of the ISO/CNS 50001 Energy Management System to monitor electricity usage and the launch of the Buildings Electricity Bill Sharing Mechanism to promote accountability. To further enhance sustainability, outdated equipment has been replaced, hot and cold ducts in machinery rooms have been separated, and smart water meters and rainwater harvesting systems have been installed. These efforts, along with the integration of solar power and AI-driven HVAC systems, form the core of NYCU’s long-term strategy to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.
