Carbon reduction and emission reduction process

■Carbon Management Plan
The university has developed a formal Carbon Management Plan, which outlines specific goals, strategies, and actions for reducing carbon emissions across all aspects of campus operations. This plan includes targets for reducing emissions, timelines for achieving them, and a detailed action plan for implementation. The Carbon Management Plan is aligned with national and international climate goals, such as Taiwan’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

■Carbon Footprint Assessment
We regularly conduct a carbon footprint assessment to measure the university’s carbon emissions. This assessment includes emissions from energy use in buildings, transportation, waste, water, and procurement. By tracking and quantifying emissions, we can identify key areas of impact and prioritise actions that will deliver the most significant reductions. The data is used to set benchmarks and track progress towards carbon reduction targets.

■Energy Efficiency Initiatives
Reducing energy consumption is a core part of our carbon reduction strategy. The university has implemented a range of energy efficiency measures, such as upgrading building insulation, installing energy-efficient lighting, and using smart building technologies to optimise energy use.

■Sustainable Transportation Initiatives
The university promotes sustainable transportation as a way to reduce emissions associated with staff and student commuting. Initiatives include encouraging cycling and walking, providing electric vehicle charging points, and partnering with local public transport providers to offer discounted passes.
