In the “University Alliance Deepening Digital Learning Promotion and Innovative Application Plan” promoted by the Ministry of Education, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and partner institutions such as National Cheng Kung University, National Chung Cheng University, National Chung Hsing University, National Tainan University of the Arts and I-Shou University jointly formed the “Medical, Agricultural, Art and Industrial Alliance” and participated in the “2024 Digital Learning International Symposium and Open Education Forum (ELOE)” held at the National Taichung University of Science and Technology from December 13 to 14, 2024. The core topics of this ELOE forum are “Training and Development of Digital Learning Teachers and Students’ Competencies”, “University Alliance Curriculum Improvement and Model Transmission” and “International Sharing and Global Learning of Digital Learning”.
In this forum, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University combined the digital teaching foundation and course design cooperation experience of six schools, and used the course “How the Brain Likes to Learn: Powerful Online Learning” co-created by Professor Chen Qiangren and internationally renowned scholar Barbara Oakley as a case study to summarize practical methods for efficient digital course design and application. It obtained the opportunity to speak in the “Learning Analysis Special Interest Group” and won the “Annual Teaching Case” award after the forum. It was also published in the SSCI Q1 journal.
This achievement not only demonstrates the school’s remarkable achievements in promoting the deepening and innovative application of digital teaching, as well as the alliance’s remarkable achievements in promoting digital learning and international cooperation, but also during the presentation process, it also shared how to enhance the full English learning experience of high school students through digital courses, which received widespread attention from the participants.
Teacher Chen Hongren said that he was very happy that through cooperation with the alliance and the central school, the research team could intensively participate in and exchange various digital learning and analysis opportunities, and then publish research results on digital learning, deeply explore the relationship between online learning readiness, perceived benefits and course evaluation, and analyze the application potential of interactive technology in digital courses.
After receiving the award, Professor Zhang Yongjia, Director of the Higher Education Open Resources Research Center of our university, also said that this award is not only a high recognition of Yangming Jiaotong University’s commitment to digital education and teaching innovation over the years, but also highlights the important role of our university in domestic and foreign educational cooperation. In the future, Yangming Jiaotong University will continue to deepen the promotion of digital learning, strengthen cooperation with domestic and foreign partners, and actively expand the influence of the education alliance.
