NYCU won the Taiwan Open Education Excellence Award for the third time

2024-10-18

Dr. Ling-Yu Yang from the Department of Medicine at National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University, together with the pediatric team of Taipei Veterans General Hospital, launched an open course, “Accompanying Your Baby to Grow Up Healthy: A Brief Discussion on Common Pediatric Diseases.” The topics covered include enterovirus, atopic dermatitis, and child growth retardation. Through common children’s health issues such as “Someone in my child’s class is infected with enterovirus. What should my baby pay attention to?” and “My child wets the bed frequently even though he doesn’t drink a lot of water. What should I do?”, etc., through in-depth and easy-to-understand course planning and rich and interactive content design, doctors will accompany parents to discuss children’s health, helping parents to fully understand their children’s health needs and relieve the anxiety of raising children.

It also stood out in the open course selection of colleges and universities across Taiwan and won the “Excellent” award in the 2024 Taiwan Open Education Excellent Course Award! This is also the third consecutive time National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University has won the Taiwan Open Education Excellence Award Special Award after the 2023 “The Brain Likes to Learn: Powerful Teaching Edition” and the 2022 “Brain, Behaviour, and Dentistry”.

At the same time as the event, the School of Medicine of National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University also actively launched courses such as “Unlock the Brain, Unleash Your Brainpower” and “Sex and Medicine”, which were jointly created by Dr. Wang Pei-ning and Dr. Huang Chi-xian of the School of Medicine and a team of professional doctors. They follow the course design of “Accompanying Your Baby to Grow Up Healthy: A Brief Talk on Common Pediatric Diseases” and combine clinical experience to provide the public with systematic health education and answer common myths about brain science and sex education.

In the future, the NYCU Higher Education Open Resources Research Center will continue to implement the university’s social responsibility, deepen its roots in every corner of society, and realize the platform concept – “Let everyone have the opportunity to become a lifelong learner.” This series of open courses on medical topics will be regularly launched on the ewant education network open education platform, with free registration and free course enrollment, providing high-quality open courses for learners across the country and creating a digital platform with diverse applications. The public is welcome to join and learn medical knowledge easily, and protect the whole family’s health.
