[NYCU SDGs Project] The AIoT Talent Enhancement Program

2022-09-20

To make the remote primary students equipped with basic AI knowledge, this project trained teachers and helped them to be capable of teaching primary students coding, IoT, and gaming design; positive results were achieved. This project also invited disadvantaged students in NYCU to work as teaching assistants to help the teachers, reaching the goal of SDG 1:No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 10: Reduce Inequalities.

Core Achievements:

1. Seed teacher training:

  • Basic knowledge of AI, IoT, and coding were passed on to disadvantaged students in NYCU, and made them become the TAs of primary school students.

2. Working with TSMC Charity Foundation:

  • This project collaborated with TSMC Charity Foundation to introduce AIoT sensors and CPU elements into digital technology courses in primary schools.

3. The 2nd AIoT Sensor competition:

  • Working with Hsinchu County and Taoyuan City, this year the project held the 2nd AIoT Sensor competition, the AIoT Sensor Winwin Cup, and it used rabboni as the main element. Last year, this project assisted in the development of the single-sensor module. This year, the world’s first multi-sensing AIOT connection module was developed in cooperation with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for the second Winwin Cup.

4. Cooperation with NCKU on USR:

  • Disadvantaged students were invited to join in the programming and semiconductor training courses in the universities, and they were trained to be capable of teaching and sharing what they had learned in the courses with primary students in Taiwan.

In the future, this project will continue to connect primary school teachers with local and industrial resources, as an act to fulfill university social responsibilities.
