The “Key Technology Exploration” digital course providing it to Taoyuan City’s high schools as city-based curriculum teaching materials.

National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and Taiwan United University System jointly held a “Key Technology Exploration” digital course launch conference at Taoyuan City Government, announcing the joint launch of an innovative technology literacy course designed for high school students, and will give priority to providing it to Taoyuan City’s high schools as city-based curriculum teaching materials.

The “Key Technology Exploration” course content is divided into six major course themes, covering cutting-edge technology fields such as artificial intelligence, space exploration, robotics, semiconductors, financial technology, and design thinking. The course brings together elite teachers from four universities, including National Chiao Tung University, National Tsing Hua University, National Central University, and National Chengchi University, and cooperates with industry units such as the National Space Center, Industrial Technology Research Institute, and World Advanced Technology to establish an important model for universities and industries to cooperate in promoting high school education. The course adopts a modular design. Through the support of digital platforms and the use of complete digital teaching materials, high school teachers are allowed to independently select topics and flexibly combine them into one-credit or two-credit courses, so that the vast majority of high schools can use this course appropriately.

Chen Lijun, chairman of the Taiwan United University System, pointed out that the “Key Technology Exploration” course is the first time that the Taiwan United University System has collaborated across schools to design courses tailored for each high school. From content design, teacher planning to digital teaching material production, it combines professional teaching and research teams from each school with industry benchmark units, and gathers academic and industrial energy. It is hoped that it will inspire students’ interest in exploring cutting-edge technology and cultivate a new generation of talents with innovative thinking and an international perspective.

Tang Zhenhuan, vice president of Yang Ming National Chiao Tung University, emphasized that Yang Ming National Chiao Tung University attaches great importance to digital learning and resource sharing. Collaboration with the National Taiwan University System and the Taoyuan City Government is an important achievement of the university’s promotion of the “University and High School Co-creative Online Learning (UHCOOL)” program, which implements the “cross-school, cross-border, and cross-domain” educational cooperation model, allowing students to be exposed to technological trends and application practices at the high school stage, and to establish technological literacy and cross-domain learning capabilities.

Taoyuan Mayor Chang Shan-cheng said that the “Key Technology Exploration” course will be introduced to Taoyuan City High School starting from the 114th academic year, becoming Taoyuan’s first city-based course, and is expected to benefit more than 10,000 students. This course is not only in line with Taoyuan’s science and technology education blueprint, but also an extension of the smart city vision. The Taoyuan City Government will continue to support educational innovation and promote in-depth cooperation with universities to make education a solid backing for technological development.

As an important key force in promoting digital education in Taiwan, National Yang-Ming National Chiao Tung University said it will continue to promote the UHCOOL project, integrate higher education and industry resources, work with local governments and high schools, take into account the popularization and deepening of science and technology education, and develop more learning content and cooperation models that meet future needs. In the future, National Taiwan University and National Yang-Ming National Chiao Tung University will also actively expand the service scope of “Key Technology Exploration” and look forward to cooperating with more county and city governments and schools, so that more young students can break through the limitations of time and region through the virtual-real integrated learning model and get in touch with key technology knowledge in real time.
