Local authority collaboration regarding planning and development

The University collaborates with local authorities on planning and neighborhood development, aligning projects with community access goals. In Hsinchu, the University partnered with the City Government to allocate campus land and upgrade pedestrian networks—most notably the Dingpu Canal Student Path and the Jiangong Primary School Path. The latter delivered a fully barrier-free route via pavement reconfiguration, layered planting, sidewalk height adjustments, and universal-access features; within the Jiangong Staff Dormitory area, internal paths were improved and a 40 m² wooden platform and sandpit were added. Beyond streetscapes, NYCU participates in municipal planning reviews and mitigates housing pressure by providing substantial on-campus student and staff housing, thereby supporting the city’s goal of enabling local residents to access affordable homes. The Hsinchu City Government and the Department of Civil Engineering signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen professional capacity in surveying, intelligent transportation, architectural design, and urban planning, supporting urban infrastructure and smart-city development.
