Sustainable food choices on campus

The university offers sustainable food options for all students and staff on campus. This is achieved through both menu requirements and a focus on sustainable sourcing.
■ Vegetarian and Vegan Options (Inclusivity)
Restaurants on all campuses offer vegetarian and vegan options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All restaurants on the Yangming Campus offer vegetarian options. The Guangfu Campus features a dedicated vegetarian restaurant, while other restaurants on campus also provide vegetarian and vegan options.
■ Sustainable Sourcing (Transparency and Local)
The university actively encourages on-campus restaurants to prioritize purchasing locally produced ingredients, thereby reducing food miles and supporting local agriculture. To maintain transparency and accountability in the food supply chain, the sources of all ingredients are registered in the official “Campus Food Ingredients Registration Platform.”
■ Student-Led Promotion and Education
The university actively supports student organizations in promoting sustainable food choices and lifestyles. A service-learning lecture, jointly organized with the Fo Guang Youth Society, this event focused on “Planet-Friendly Living.” It featured lectures on “The New Wave of Sustainability for University Students” by a lecturer from the Taiwan Vegetarian Nutrition Society, highlighting the “Plant-Based Campus Program,” as well as a sharing session by the founder of the Meatless Market on adopting and promoting a plant-based lifestyle.
